About Us

The Idaho Council for International Visitors (ICIV) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing the State of Idaho, its people, industry, and culture with the international community. Founded in 2005, ICIV works as a private sector partner with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, designing short-term professional and cultural exchange programs for current and emerging leaders, specialists, and scholars from around the world. Each year, ICIV welcomes up to 50 international visitors to Idaho.

The International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. In existence since 1940, the mission of the IVLP is to offer current and emerging international leaders the opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of American political, economic, social and cultural life through carefully designed exchanges that reflect participants’ professional interests and the public diplomacy objectives of the United States government. Every year, U.S. Ambassadors vote the IVLP as the most influential program offered by the U.S. Staff at U.S. Embassies nominates promising leaders for programs of up to three weeks. Each year, the U.S. Department of State brings up to 5,000 international visitors to the U.S. and works with several National Program Agencies and Global Ties U.S. (www.globaltiesus.org), comprising of 90+ community-based Councils for International Visitors such as in Idaho, to organize their visit.

ICIV is the only Council for International Visitors in the State of Idaho.
